One-Day Seminar on “Space Exploration and Applications” at MIET, Meerut
Organized on the occasion of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai’s Birth Anniversary and National Remote Sensing Day
Meerut – The SAT Lab and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) will jointly organize a one-day seminar on “Space Exploration and Applications” on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The event is being held to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and National Remote Sensing Day.
The Chief Guest for the seminar will be Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay H. Upadhyay, Professor & Head, Centre for Space Science and Technology (CSST), IIT Roorkee.

Mr. A. C. Mathur – Visiting Professor, CSST, IIT Roorkee; Former Group Director (Retd.), Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, Ahmedabad; and Managing Director, Indian Space Industries Exhibitors, Ahmedabad.

Key Highlights of the Event
The seminar will feature discussions on the life and contributions of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the significance of National Remote Sensing Day and the Second National Space Day, applications of satellite remote sensing for the common man, analysis of the Uttarkashi cloudburst (August 5) and NISAR applications, an overview of CSST’s work at IIT Roorkee, space exploration, and the role of satellite and remote sensing applications.
Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The primary aim of the event is to inspire students by introducing them to ISRO’s journey, the future of space science and technology, and emerging opportunities in the space sector. Participants will also gain awareness about National Space Day, observed annually on August 23 in commemoration of the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s successful landing on the Moon.
