Meerut| In a vibrant celebration of International Yoga Day, Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT) witnessed an inspiring display of unity and wellness as hundreds of students and faculty members participated in a grand yoga session on campus. The highlight of the event was the mass Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) performed in response to the national appeal by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel.
Aimed at setting a national participation record, universities and colleges across the country were directed to organize Surya Namaskar sessions. MIT joined the movement with full enthusiasm, turning the campus into a hub of energy and discipline.
Led by renowned yoga expert Dr. Sanjay Mathur, participants practiced various yoga asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, and Bhujangasana, along with guided pranayama and meditation. Dr. Mathur spoke about yoga’s transformative role in maintaining physical fitness and achieving mental clarity, especially for the youth.
MIT Director Dr. K.L.A. Khan, Principal Dr. Himanshu Sharma, Dean of Pharmacy Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma, Academic Dean Dr. Gaurav Sharma, and Program Coordinator Ajay Chaudhary were present to encourage students and underscore the institute’s commitment to health and cultural values.
The event concluded with a message urging all students to adopt yoga as a daily practice. More than just a wellness activity, the session served as a reminder of India’s ancient wisdom and its relevance in modern life.
