Two-Day National Workshop on AI, Public Policy and Sustainable Development Begins at Venkateshwara

 

Meerut: A two-day national workshop on “AI, Public Policy and Sustainable Development for Viksit Bharat@2047” began at Shri Venkateshwara University and Institute on the National Highway Bypass. The event is being organised jointly by Shri Venkateshwara University and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India.

More than 400 participants, including academicians, policymakers, economists, professionals and young research scholars from across the country, are attending the workshop. Delegates from Russia and Kazakhstan are also participating in the six sessions scheduled during the event.

The inaugural session was held at the Dr CV Raman Central Auditorium and was formally opened with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by chief guest Arifvev Alexey Drovich, along with Health Director Dr Olga Bugrasova, Padma Shri Dr Ravikant, former vice-chancellor and scientist Prof VPS Arora, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Prof Krishnakant Dave, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Manas Ranjan, Dr Rahul Awasthi and organisers Dr Shilpa Raina and Dr Asia Wahid.

Addressing the gathering, Venkateshwara Group founder chairman Sudhir Giri said India’s growing economy, young population, technological capabilities, education system and modern healthcare infrastructure would play an important role in its journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Chief guest Arifvev Alexey Drovich highlighted the longstanding ties between India and Russia and said the world was increasingly looking towards India for leadership and cooperation.

Prof VPS Arora said India’s farmers, youth, women and higher education sector would remain important drivers of economic growth, while Dr Olga Bugrasova highlighted good governance, infrastructure development and modern healthcare as key components of India’s development trajectory.

Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi emphasised the growing importance of quality education, skill development, innovation and research. Padma Shri Dr Ravikant, Pro-Chancellor of VIMS and former Director of AIIMS Rishikesh, said education and healthcare were fundamental to human development and continued progress in both sectors would contribute to strengthening the national economy.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Krishnakant Dave said the university was working towards the vision of a developed India through quality education, healthcare, research, environmental sustainability and the effective use of artificial intelligence.

The workshop will feature discussions on AI, public policy, sustainable development, education, healthcare, innovation and research, with experts and research scholars deliberating on strategies linked to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
