Meerut: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the 79th Independence Day celebrations, Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute hosted a grand series of more than a dozen patriotic and cultural events. The festivities began with floral tributes to Bharat Mata and the hoisting of a towering 101-foot-high Tricolour by Group Chairman Shri Sudhir Giri, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishna Kant Dave, Dr. Madhu Chaturvedi, and Registrar Dr. Piyush Kumar Pandey.
The day’s events included a Prabhat Pheri (morning march), Tiranga rally, traditional Indian dance performances, music, poetry recitals, and a cultural evening. A special theatrical presentation based on Operation Sindoor highlighted the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the Indian Army in safeguarding the nation—earning high praise from the audience.
On the occasion, national and international-level athletes, along with academic achievers, were honoured with certificates and mementos.
Addressing the gathering, Group Chairman Shri Sudhir Giri emphasized that serving the nation is not limited to fighting at the borders. Citizens from all walks of life—youth, elders, and women—can contribute to building a corruption-free, united India by working with integrity in their respective fields. He urged everyone to avoid plastic, refrain from tax evasion, maintain cleanliness in public spaces, and promote women’s empowerment, health, and prosperity as a true tribute to the martyrs.Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi described the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride, stressing unity and patriotism, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishna Kant Dave called for collective efforts to create a developed and corruption-free India.
