Senior Doctors and Students Deliver Strong Message on AIDS Awareness
Meerut: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, in collaboration with Shri Venkateshwara University, organized a national seminar, poster exhibition, and street play to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The event witnessed the participation of renowned doctors, scientists, and health experts from across the country who discussed in detail the causes, symptoms, prevention, and available treatment options for AIDS.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Chief Guest Dr. Balmiki Prasad, former Director, Ministry of Health & Senior IAS Officer, along with Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Krishan Kant Dave, Dean Dr. Sanjeev Bhatt, and other senior faculty members.
Addressing the gathering, Founder Chairman Sudhir Giri said that AIDS is not just a deadly disease but also a social stigma. He emphasized that the Venkateshwara Group, in collaboration with the government and NGOs, will continue to run awareness campaigns to combat this health challenge.
Chief Speaker Dr. Balmiki Prasad highlighted that AIDS still claims millions of lives globally due to the absence of a definitive cure or vaccine. He stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate the disease by 2030.
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi underscored the crucial role of medical, paramedical, and nursing students in AIDS prevention and awareness initiatives. The seminar also featured insightful addresses by Dr. B.N. Singh and Dr. (Col.) Neeraj Sidhan.
Students presented impactful posters and a street play, effectively spreading awareness about HIV prevention and stigma reduction. The event was efficiently anchored by Dr. Alankrita Jain.
The programme concluded with a collective call by dignitaries to intensify efforts toward AIDS awareness and prevention at every level of society.
