Venkateshwara Group Leads Road Safety Drive with Mega Eye Check-up and Health Camp

Over 400 drivers screened across toll plazas during National Road Safety Month

Meerut: As part of National Road Safety Month, the Venkateshwara Group’s multi-speciality hospital, VIMS, in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), organised a large-scale eye check-up and health camp across four toll plazas in the Meerut and Moradabad divisions.

More than 400 drivers, including bus, truck, auto, tempo and commercial vehicle operators, underwent free eye examinations and comprehensive health check-ups. Essential medicines were also distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi, Senior Manager of the Indian Roads Bureau Lalit Mohan Tiwari, NHAI Manager Jayvardhan Singh, Medical Superintendent Dr Suresh Ji Mehta, Director Ajay Srivastava and GM Hospital Megha Sabarwal.

Venkateshwara Group Founder Chairman Sudhir Giri described the initiative as a strong step towards strengthening road safety awareness. He said that students of the Venkateshwara institutions will conduct a month-long awareness अभियान across the Meerut and Moradabad divisions and West UP, motivating two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and four-wheeler drivers to regularly use seat belts.

Addressing the gathering, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi emphasised that regular health check-ups, periodic eye examinations, strict avoidance of drunk driving and disciplined adherence to traffic rules can significantly reduce the annual death toll from road accidents in India, which exceeds 450,000 fatalities each year. He said road safety is not only an administrative responsibility but a collective social duty.

The medical camp was supported by a team of specialist doctors including Head of Ophthalmology Dr Kishore Govekar, Dr Alok Gupta, Dr Aditi Bansal, senior physician Dr Siddharth Day, Dr Pranab, Dr Rajat, Anand Nagar and Shailendra Singh.

Senior officials and representatives present on the occasion included Toll HR Manager Tarun Tiwari, TI Anuj Malik, Mohit, Yogesh Sharma and Media In-charge Vishwas Rana, along with officials from NHAI, hospital administration and Venkateshwara institutions.

The initiative was widely appreciated by officials and participants, who described it as a model community-driven programme for promoting road safety, preventive healthcare and responsible driving culture.
