Over 550 participants from 26 states to be trained by top cyber experts in two-week event held in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Police
Aiming to counter the growing threat of cybercrime across India, Shri Venkateshwara University, Amroha, in association with the Uttar Pradesh Police, inaugurated the National Cyber Security Workshop-2025 on Wednesday. The two-week-long mega event witnessed a grand opening at the university's Dr. C.V. Raman Auditorium, bringing together cyber enthusiasts, students, law enforcement personnel, and industry experts from across the country.
More than 550 participants from over 26 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Kerala, are attending the workshop. Over two dozen renowned cyber security experts from across India—representing cities such as Hyderabad, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Kolkata—will conduct training sessions focused on combating evolving cyber threats.
“Think Ten Steps Ahead of Cyber Criminals”: ADG Bareilly Zone
Chief Guest Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Bareilly Zone, Mr. Ramit Sharma, emphasized the need for strategic innovation in cyber policing.
“To stay ahead of cyber criminals, both the police force and digital warriors need to think ten steps ahead. From phishing and hacking to malware and ransomware attacks, the cyber world demands advanced preparedness,” Sharma stated in his keynote address.
A National Security Concern, Not Just Personal Loss
Superintendent of Police (SP) Amroha, Mr. Amit Kumar Anand, the event's chief coordinator, highlighted the broader implications of cybercrime.
“Cybercrimes are no longer limited to individual victims. They now pose significant threats to national security. Combating them will require collaborative efforts between law enforcement, students, and civil society organizations,” he remarked.
Certification Courses to Empower the Public
Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Pro-Chancellor of Shri Venkateshwara University, announced that the university has launched over a dozen certificate courses in areas like cyber safety, e-commerce fraud prevention, and digital fraud detection.
“Our goal is to equip citizens with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves and raise awareness in their communities,” he added.
The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting before the statue of Goddess Saraswati by dignitaries including ADG Ramit Sharma, SP Amit Kumar Anand, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Additional SP Akhilesh Bhadauria, DySP Anjali Kataria, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishna Kant Dave.
Massive Participation and Institutional Support
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent academicians and university officials such as Registrar Prof. Piyush Pandey, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. Suman Kashyap, Dr. Anjali Bhardwaj, cyber expert Manu Sharma, Dr. Snehlata, Dr. Vikas Pandey, Dr. Amit Kumar, and Director Dr. Pratap Singh from the university’s Meerut campus. Media Head Vishwas Rana was also present.
Following the inaugural session, participants received their workshop kits and session schedules. In a gesture of gratitude, Dr. Rajeev Tyagi and SP Amit Kumar Anand presented mementoes to the guests and speakers.
Certification on Conclusion
The workshop will conclude on June 30, with a formal closing ceremony during which certificates will be awarded to all participants by senior police officers and national-level cyber security experts.
With cybercrimes becoming increasingly sophisticated and widespread, this joint initiative between UP Police and Shri Venkateshwara University is being hailed as a significant step toward building a digitally secure India.
