Meerut: The Venkateshwara Institute campus on National Highway Bypass came alive on Thursday evening with vibrant colours, music and dance as the institute hosted its grand ‘Dandiya & Garba 2025’ celebration to mark the Sharadiya Navratri. Students and staff, dressed in traditional attire, danced enthusiastically to devotional folk tunes as well as popular religious film songs.
The festivities began with a traditional aarti and lamp-lighting ceremony at the Durga pandal, performed by Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishan Kant Dave, Registrar Prof. Piyush Kumar Pandey and chief priest Acharya Pt. Extending his wishes on the occasion of Navratri and Vijayadashami, Venkateshwara Group Founder-Chairman Sudhir Giri said, “Dandiya and Garba are not just cultural dances but symbols of the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, representing women empowerment and the triumph of good over evil. In Indian tradition, ‘Matrushakti’ has always been revered and will remain so for eternity.”
