Venkateshwara University Concludes Annual Sports Meet ‘Varchasva-2026’ with Grandeur


Meerut: Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute, located on the National Highway bypass, concluded its annual sports meet ‘Varchasva-2026’ with a grand closing ceremony on Monday. More than 1,200 student-athletes from four houses—Red, Green, Yellow and Blue—participated in over two dozen sporting events, collectively winning 142 medals and trophies.

The closing ceremony was held at the Major Dhyan Chand Conference Hall, where the event was formally inaugurated by Founder Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi, Chief Guest and IT expert Ankita Singh, Finance Director Yuvraj Singh, and Dean of Nursing Dr Anna Eric Brown, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the statue of Goddess Saraswati.

Adding a cultural dimension to the event, students of the Venkateshwara School of Nursing presented vibrant cultural performances, making the concluding ceremony memorable.

Addressing the gathering, Founder Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri, quoting Swami Vivekananda, said that there is no concept of defeat in life’s competitions—one either wins or learns. He encouraged students to actively participate in competitive events to enhance their overall development.

Chief Guest Ankita Singh highlighted the impact of flagship initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India, stating that these programmes have enabled Indian youth to perform exceptionally at national and international platforms. She added that India, driven by its youthful population, is poised for global leadership.

Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi emphasised that a healthy body nurtures a healthy mind and that physically fit youth play a vital role in nation-building.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals and certificates to winning teams and outstanding performers.

Several senior officials and faculty members were present on the occasion, including Registrar Prof (Dr) Piyush Kumar Pandey, Dean Academics Dr Rajesh Singh, along with heads of departments, faculty members, administrative officials and students. Media in-charge Vishwas Rana and representatives from the Meerut campus also attended the event.
