MIET Hosts Pre-Event Ahead of India AI Impact Summit 2026

Focus on Building an AI-Ready Workforce for India’s Future




Meerut: Ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, a pre-event programme was organised at MIET, Meerut. The event focused on enhancing human capital for the AI era, with discussions centred on aligning the education system, skill development initiatives and industry–academia collaboration with the evolving demands of artificial intelligence.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, faculty members, researchers and industry professionals.

The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Jitendra Singh, Scientist ‘G’ and Centre Head, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Delhi, while Mr Arvind Kumar, Advisor, C-DAC Delhi, attended as the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Singh emphasised the need for developing indigenous AI technologies tailored to India’s unique challenges. He urged students to innovate with a “Work for India” mindset and highlighted that AI-based solutions should be designed to address national needs in key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and public services.

A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion on building human capabilities for the AI age. The panel featured Dr Priyanka Jain, Scientist ‘F’, C-DAC Delhi; Mr Mayank Sharma, AI researcher; and Mr Mohammad Umar Alam, Lead Platform AI Engineer. The speakers shared insights on emerging AI technologies, essential future skills, curriculum innovation and the importance of ethical and responsible AI.

An interactive session followed, during which students and faculty actively engaged with the experts, raising questions related to future job roles, research opportunities and strengthening industry–academia collaboration.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) S. K. Singh, Campus Director, and Prof. (Dr) Naresh Kumar, Dean – Computer Science and allied departments. Coordination of the event was led by Dr Swati Sharma, Head, Computer Science & IT, along with Ms Srishti Vashisht.
