UPAJ Continues to Champion Journalists' Rights and Welfare Across Uttar Pradesh

A free and independent press is the cornerstone of a vibrant democracy. Journalists serve as the vital link between the government and the public, ensuring transparency, accountability and the free flow of information. Safeguarding the rights, dignity and welfare of media professionals is therefore essential for strengthening democratic values.
The Uttar Pradesh Association of Journalists (UPAJ), affiliated with the National Union of Journalists-India (NUJ-I) and registered as a trade union, has consistently worked towards protecting the interests of journalists across the state. The organisation has emerged as a strong and credible platform dedicated to addressing the professional challenges faced by media persons while advocating for their rights and welfare.
UPAJ actively raises issues concerning journalists before the government and administrative authorities, seeking timely and effective solutions. The organisation remains committed to addressing concerns related to journalists' safety, workplace dignity, legal protection, professional recognition and freedom of the press. It also extends support to media professionals facing difficulties in the course of their duties and continues to engage with stakeholders to create a more secure and enabling environment for journalism.
Speaking on the organisation's commitment, Ajay Chaudhary, State Vice President of UPAJ, said that one of the association's key priorities is to ensure that journalists are well informed about the various welfare schemes and support initiatives introduced by the Uttar Pradesh Government. By spreading awareness about these programmes, UPAJ aims to help eligible journalists access the benefits available to them in a transparent and timely manner.
