Under the partnership, the two institutions will undertake joint research projects in engineering, biotechnology and Himalayan sciences. UCOST-supported innovators and research scholars will have access to MIET’s AICTE IDEA Lab, Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) and Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing. The collaboration will focus on converting innovative ideas into prototypes and market-ready solutions.
The MoU also places emphasis on Himalayan ecosystem conservation, sustainable development and research on medicinal and aromatic plants. Joint studies will also be undertaken in areas related to glacier and lake conservation.
The partnership will further strengthen intellectual property protection and technology transfer. UCOST’s Patent Information Centre will provide technical support for patent filing arising from joint research, while startups associated with both institutions will be encouraged through cross-incubation initiatives.
The agreement will also facilitate specialised training and mentorship programmes for young scientists and research scholars. Both institutions will collaborate on science popularisation initiatives, Science Congress programmes, seminars and conferences, besides developing interactive exhibits and ‘Science-on-Sphere’ modules for Science City at Vigyan Dham.
MIET Chairman Vishnu Sharan, Vice-Chairman Gaurav Agarwal and Barkha Agarwal congratulated both institutions on the collaboration and described it as an important step towards strengthening research, innovation and technology-led development.
