Meerut, May 1: A scholarship distribution ceremony was held at MIT, located on Partapur Bypass, to support academically outstanding yet financially underprivileged students. The event, graced by MIT Chairman Vishnu Sharan as the chief guest, saw scholarships being awarded to 17 deserving students.
The initiative was facilitated by the Pishtiya Vidya Usha Trust, which has been actively supporting students from economically weaker sections since 2019. The trust was established to ensure that no talented student has to abandon their education due to financial hardship, especially those who are unable to avail benefits from government welfare schemes.
This year, scholarships worth ₹30,000 each were awarded to eight students, including seven from B.Tech and one from B.Pharma. Additionally, three BBA students received ₹16,000 each, while six BCA students were granted ₹12,500 each.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Vishnu Sharan recalled the inception of the trust in 2019, noting that many bright students at MIT were struggling financially, yet not receiving government aid. The trust was thus formed to fill this critical gap, and has since been a lifeline for numerous students across disciplines.
The event was smoothly conducted by compère Nigarish Saifi. Dignitaries present on the occasion included MIT Vice Chairman Puneet Agarwal, Director Dr. K.L.A. Khan, Principal Dr. Himanshu Sharma, Pharmacy Principal Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma, Dean of Academics Dr. Gaurav Sharma, and senior faculty member Ajay Chaudhary, among others.
