Meerut: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the Basmati Export Development Foundation (BEDF) under APEDA, Modipuram, organized a special yoga session at its demonstration and training farm, promoting health and holistic wellness among farmers, scientists, and officials.
The session was led by Dr. Ritesh Sharma, Joint Director of BEDF-APEDA, who emphasized the vital role of good health in national development. “Only healthy citizens can contribute significantly to building a prosperous nation,” he stated, encouraging regular yoga practice as a tool for maintaining physical and mental well-being.
Renowned yoga expert Dr. Neerja Sharma conducted the training session, introducing participants to various yoga postures and breathing techniques. Addressing the gathering, she spoke about the preventive and curative aspects of yoga. “Yoga not only helps in managing stress but also plays a crucial role in eliminating many lifestyle-related ailments,” she explained.
Dr. Neerja also highlighted the importance of balanced and nutritious food for a strong and disease-free body. She underlined the deep connection between personal health, nature, and national prosperity.
The event witnessed active participation from approximately 45 individuals, including BEDF scientists, technical staff, and local farmers. All participants pledged to make yoga a part of their daily routine and also agreed on the need to stay connected with nature and contribute to its preservation.
The yoga day celebration reflected APEDA’s commitment not just to agricultural advancement but also to the holistic well-being of the farming community. By promoting yoga and wellness practices among stakeholders, APEDA aims to foster a healthier, more resilient agri-sector workforce.
