 MIET Public School to Host CBSE North Zone-1 Shooting Championship from August 1

Over 1,200 shooters from 252 schools set to compete in four-day mega event in Meerut

Meerut: MIET Public School, located on Mawana Road in Meerut, is all set to host the CBSE North Zone-1 Shooting Championship from August 1, 2025. The four-day sporting event will bring together over 1,200 participants from 252 CBSE-affiliated schools, spanning across two major CBSE regions — Dehradun and Noida.

Addressing a press conference, Principal Rupali Sehgal stated that the competition will see participation from prominent schools of 11 districts of Uttarakhand under the Dehradun region, and 26 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh under the Noida region. Districts such as Haridwar, Haldwani, Nainital, Dehradun, Rudrapur, Khatima, and Roorkee will represent Uttarakhand, while Bulandshahr, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Agra, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Bijnor, Baghpat, Saharanpur, and Hapur, among others, will represent the Noida region.

According to Event Secretary Vijit Chaudhary, the championship will feature events in 10m Air Rifle and 10m Air Pistol categories across three age groups: Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19. The registration process begins on July 31, with approximately 300 shooters participating each day. Two well-equipped shooting ranges have been set up on campus with 30 targets. The event will use Swiss Range digital scoring system, ensuring accurate and transparent scoring in real time.

Vice Chairman Gaurav Agarwal informed that extensive arrangements have been made for outstation participants, including accommodation, meals, transportation, and first aid. “Providing top-notch facilities to the participants remains our top priority,” he said.

The press meet was attended by Chairman Vishnu Sharan, Vice Chairman Gaurav Agarwal, Principal Rupali Sehgal, Vice Principal Ekta Saxena, Event Secretary Vijit Chaudhary, Shooting Coach Akash, and Media Head Ajay Chaudhary.

This championship marks a significant sporting milestone for the city and is expected to bring forth budding talent from across North India, making MIET the centre of national-level school shooting excellence.
