Meerut: On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day 2025, Venkateshwara University, in collaboration with VIMS, organized a one-day awareness seminar and free health check-up and treatment camp under the theme “Hepatitis: Dangerous but Not Incurable.”

The event was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Founder-President Sudhir Giri, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Krishan Kant Dave, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Suresh Kumar Mehta, and Head of the Department of Medicine Dr. Yogesh Kumar.

In his keynote address, Dr. Yogesh Kumar explained that hepatitis is a potentially fatal viral disease caused by Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E viruses. However, with timely diagnosis and proper treatment, it can be completely cured. He emphasized that lack of awareness and delayed diagnosis often result in severe complications like liver cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi pointed out that approximately 1.3 million people lose their lives to hepatitis globally each year due to delayed or inaccurate treatment. Dr. Suresh Mehta urged citizens to get vaccinated against hepatitis as a preventive measure.

Thousands of patients from Meerut and neighboring districts of Western Uttar Pradesh underwent free testing at the health camp organized on the campus.

Among those present were HR Head Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Manik Tyagi, Dr. Ikram Ilahi, Quality Control Officer Dr. Surya Kiran Singh, Nursing Head Jyoti Vajpayee, and Media In-charge Vishwas Rana, along with several healthcare professionals and officials.

Founder-President Sudhir Giri reiterated the institution's commitment to providing affordable, accessible, and world-class healthcare services to every citizen of the country.
