National symposium, poster exhibition and health awareness rally held under the theme “Think Health – Think Pharmacist”
Meerut: World Pharmacists Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur at Shri Venkateshwara University and VGI, Meerut, located on the National Highway Bypass. The event was held under this year’s global theme, “Think Health – Think Pharmacist.”
The inaugural ceremony took place at the Dr. C.V. Raman Auditorium with a traditional lamp-lighting before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. The event was graced by eminent dignitaries including Prof. S.R. Malu (Former Vice-Chancellor, Rajasthan University), Nishant Singh (Head, Monarch Scientific), Dr. Rajeev Tyagi (Pro-Chancellor, Venkateshwara University), Seemant Saxena (Glaxo India), Ruchi Bansal (Drug Inspector, Amroha), Pradeep Kumar Das (Chief Pharmacist), Dr. Krishna Kant Dave (Vice Chancellor), and Dr. Om Prakash Gosai (Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy), among others.
The day-long celebration featured a national symposium, poster and model exhibition, street plays (Nukkad Natak), and a health awareness rally. Students actively participated, spreading the message of “Swasth Bharat – Ayushman Bharat” through creative performances and awareness drives, emphasizing the crucial role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.
Delivering the keynote address, Drug Inspector Ruchi Bansal highlighted that the pharma sector is one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide, offering vast employment opportunities in government, private and entrepreneurial domains. Dr. Rajeev Tyagi underlined the role of pharmacists during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting how they worked shoulder-to-shoulder with doctors, from drug distribution to global vaccination efforts.
Prof. S.R. Malu, a renowned scientist, emphasized that trained and qualified pharmacists play a role in safe and effective treatment protocols that is no less important than that of physicians. Meanwhile, Shri Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman of the Venkateshwara Group, stressed that pharmacists are instrumental in carrying forward the government’s flagship initiatives like “Swasth Bharat – Ayushman Bharat” to the grassroots.
Several distinguished speakers also discussed the expanding career prospects in the pharmaceutical industry, encouraging students to seize opportunities in both national and global healthcare sectors. On the occasion, Dean of Pharmacy Dr. Om Prakash Gosai administered a health service pledge to all students.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from experts and students across Meerut, Moradabad, Delhi, Gurugram, and other regions, and concluded with the university management and dignitaries applauding the creativity and zeal of pharmacy students.
