“Think Health, Think Pharmacist” theme inspires creativity and awareness
Meerut: The Department of Pharmacy at Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT) marked World Pharmacist Day with great enthusiasm and spirited participation from students and faculty. This year’s global theme — “Think Health, Think Pharmacist” — set the tone for a day filled with creativity, awareness, and industry insights.
The celebrations were formally inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Director Dr. K.L.A. Khan, Principal Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma, and Dean Academics Dr. Gaurav Sharma. Addressing the gathering, they highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists not just as dispensers of medicines, but as vital pillars of healthcare delivery and community well-being.
Throughout the day, students showcased their talent and innovation through a host of activities including poster making, rangoli, a health check-up camp, street play, food stalls, slogan writing, and quiz competitions. The events not only displayed the students’ creativity but also spread awareness about healthcare and the importance of pharmacy in daily life.
Adding an industry perspective, Dr. Rajesh Agarwal, General Manager at Modi Mundi Pharma, delivered an insightful lecture on pharmaceutical industry setup and working environments. Dr. Prateek Sharma, Head of Academics at Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), introduced students to industrial equipment using Virtual Reality (VR) technology — an experience that proved both engaging and educational.
Further, senior pharmacists Deepak Kumar and Rajeev Yadav from CGHS addressed students on “The Role of Pharmacists in Healthcare.” They underlined how pharmacists contribute not only by providing medicines but also by ensuring patient care, counseling, and community health support.
The event witnessed active participation of faculty members and students alike. Congratulating the pharmacy department for the successful organization, MIT’s Vishnu Sharan and Vice Chairman Puneet Agarwal extended their best wishes.
