Agra clinches Men’s title; Meerut dominates Girls’ category
Meerut: The three-day 18th Uttar Pradesh State Roll Ball Championship 2025 concluded on Sunday with great enthusiasm at the sports ground of IIMT University, Meerut. The event was organized under the joint aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Roll Ball Association and sponsored by Shri Venkateshwara Group of Institutions.
A total of 24 teams from across the state — including 10 girls’ teams and 14 boys’ teams — showcased their exceptional sporting skills and competitive spirit throughout the championship, held from October 11 to 13.
In the thrilling finals, Team Agra outplayed Team Moradabad with a commanding 10–1 victory to lift the Men’s title. Moradabad, which performed consistently throughout the tournament, settled as the runner-up. In the Girls’ division, Team Meerut displayed remarkable dominance, defeating Team Ghaziabad by 10–2 to claim the championship trophy.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Pro-Chancellor of Venkateshwara University and National Vice President of the Kickboxing Federation of India (affiliated with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India), inaugurated the final match by conducting the toss and later felicitated the winning players with medals and trophies.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Tyagi said,
> “In any competition, there is no such thing as defeat — either you win or you learn where to improve. The youth will play a defining role in building a developed India, and sports should be embraced as an integral part of life alongside academics.”
Extending his best wishes, Shri Sudhir Giri, Founder-Chairman of the Venkateshwara Group, congratulated all participants, stating,
> “Sports nurture discipline, confidence, and team spirit — essential traits for shaping a stronger and progressive India.”
The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including Pilot Rakesh Tyagi (President, UP Roll Ball Association), Kapil Kumar (President/Secretary, District Roll Ball Association), Chief Coach Shubham Kashyap, Registrar Vikas Kaushik, Campus Director Dr. Pratap Singh, Media In-charge Vishwas Rana, Managing Manager Babita Kumar, District Secretaries Akanksha Sharma and Deepak Kumar, and Brajpal Singh, among others.
The championship concluded in a highly spirited and disciplined manner, with players displaying outstanding sportsmanship and making the event a memorable celebration of athletic excellence.
