One-Day National Workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment Held at Shri Venkateshwara University
The workshop was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before Goddess Saraswati by Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishnakant Dave, Registrar Prof. Piyush Kumar Pandey, chief guests and speakers Ms. Priyanka Garg and Ms. Saima Anwar—certified trainers from Vision India, affiliated with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India—and Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Suresh Ji Mehta.
Addressing the gathering, lead speaker Ms. Priyanka Garg elaborated on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, highlighting its strict provisions to ensure safety and dignity for women at the workplace. She emphasized that the effectiveness of the law depends on fearless reporting of any physical or mental harassment, while also cautioning against misuse of the law through false complaints.
Ms. Saima Anwar stressed that along with safeguarding their fundamental rights, women should adhere to workplace discipline, customs, policies, and protocols. She encouraged open communication and collaboration with male colleagues to develop the workplace into a “Centre of Excellence.”
In his address, Mr. Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman of the Venkateshwara Group, stated that ensuring dignity, respect, and security for women under the constitutional Right to Equality is not only the responsibility of the government but a fundamental duty of every responsible citizen. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Tyagi added that effective control over sexual harassment and women empowerment are essential to realizing the vision of a developed India.
The workshop witnessed the presence of Dr. Rajesh Bansal, Dr. Najmul Huda, Dr. Rehana Huda, Dr. B.S. Tyagi, Dr. Supriti Bhatnagar, HR Head Kuldeep Singh, Prashant, Dr. Shilpa Raina, Dr. Neetu Panwar, Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Snehlata, S.S. Baghel, Dr. Pratap, and Media In-Charge Vishwas Rana, along with a large number of management members, doctors, and staff.
The program concluded with a collective pledge to uphold gender equality and ensure a safe and respectful workplace for all.
