‘Nari Shakti Samman 2026’ organised at Shri Venkateshwara University
151 women police personnel honoured on International Women’s Day
Meerut: A grand ‘Nari Shakti Samman 2026’ ceremony was organised by Amroha Police on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Shri Venkateshwara University, located on the National Highway bypass. During the event, 151 women police personnel were honoured with mementos and certificates for their courage, dedication and exemplary service.
The programme, held at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Azad Auditorium of the university, was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police (IPS) Amit Kumar Anand, university Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi, noted litterateur and poet Prof Dr Madhu Chaturvedi, and Circle Officer and programme coordinator Anjali Kataria by lighting the ceremonial lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati.
Addressing the gathering, SP Amit Kumar Anand said that women police personnel have performed numerous commendable tasks with courage, patience, discipline and intelligence. He highlighted that many women officers have played a key role in saving the lives of hundreds of children, resolving family disputes and divorce-related cases through mutual understanding, preventing road accidents, assisting accident victims, and taking strict action against crimes such as child labour and forced begging.
He added that the remarkable achievements of women are helping India move forward towards regaining its position as a global leader. Today, women are not only matching men in fields such as sports, arts, science, administration and politics but are also excelling and making the nation proud on national and international platforms. He also noted that since October 2025, teams under Mission Shakti and women help centres have successfully resolved more than 1,500 family disputes through counselling and mediation.
Speaking on the occasion, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi said the Venkateshwara family feels proud to honour such brave women police personnel. He added that the university remains committed not only to quality education but also to organising programmes that promote social awareness and national interest.
The event also featured cultural performances that added vibrancy to the ceremony. Renowned poet Prof Dr Madhu Chaturvedi presented a special poetry recital dedicated to women empowerment, while classical dancer Anupama Kaushik mesmerised the audience with a captivating classical dance performance.
Among the prominent officers honoured were Deputy SP Anjali Kataria, Mission Shakti district in-charge Vandana Chaudhary, Alka Chaudhary, Rajabpur SHO Komal Tomar, along with more than two dozen women sub-inspectors and 122 women constables and head constables from various police stations and Mission Shakti centres.
The programme was attended by CO City Abhishek Yadav, CO Naugawa Sadat Avadhman Bhadoria, CO Hasanpur Pankaj Tyagi, Inspector Harishvardhan, PRO to the Superintendent of Police, along with hundreds of police personnel and dignitaries.
At the end of the programme, Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi expressed his gratitude to all the guests and participants for making the event successful.
