MIT hosts national conference on pharma innovation and research


MEERUT: Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT), in collaboration with AKTU Lucknow, on Friday inaugurated a two-day national conference on “Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship in Pharma for Viksit Bharat 2047.” The conference brought together researchers and academicians from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand to discuss emerging trends and developments in pharmaceutical research.

A total of 40 research papers are being presented during the conference, with discussions on 22 papers held on the first day. The event aims to provide a platform for researchers, academicians and students to exchange ideas and explore opportunities in pharmaceutical innovation, research and entrepreneurship.

The conference was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Ravindra Kumar, Director General, Resource and Management, DRDO, along with Dr SK Sharma of CCSU, MIT Director Dr KLA Khan, Principal Dr Himanshu Sharma and Pharmacy Principal Dr Neeraj Kant Sharma, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ravindra Kumar said India was no longer limited to the production of generic medicines and was steadily emerging as a global hub for pharmaceutical innovation and research and development. He said achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047 would require the country to move beyond its success in generic drugs and focus on developing innovative pharmaceutical products.

He urged pharmaceutical companies to increase investment in research and development, develop indigenous products and focus on securing patents for their innovations. He also called upon industry stakeholders and researchers to make effective use of government initiatives aimed at promoting R&D and innovation.

On the first day, Dr Rupesh Kumar Gautam from Amity University, Noida, and Dr Ashish Kumar Parashar from Lloyd Institute, Greater Noida, addressed the participants as expert speakers. They discussed emerging opportunities in pharmaceutical research, technological innovation and entrepreneurship.

The conference was attended by Pharmacy Principal Dr Neeraj Kant Sharma, Conference Secretary Dr Amarendra Pratap Yadav, Dr Vipin Kumar Sharma, Dr Alok Sharma, Ajay Chaudhary and other faculty members, researchers and students.
