Mohiddinpur Emerges as Model Village; Sri Lankan Delegation Lauds Women Empowerment and Tech Education

Meerut: Mohiddinpur village, located on Delhi Road in Meerut, became the center of international attention on Tuesday as a high-profile delegation of 40 senior civil servants from Sri Lanka visited the village to study its exemplary development model. The delegation was led by SDM (Sadar) Diksha Joshi and included senior Sri Lankan bureaucrats such as the Senior Chief Secretary, Additional Election Commissioner, Additional Secretary, and Accountant General, among others.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar Bhandari, Faculty and Associate Course Coordinator, informed that the visit was part of a special study tour organized under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. The objective was to showcase India’s administrative, Panchayati Raj, and rural development models to global counterparts.

During their visit, the delegation explored Mohiddinpur’s innovative governance practices, panchayat functioning, women's empowerment initiatives, solid waste management system, and primary healthcare services. They expressed appreciation for the on-ground implementation of impactful development practices.

Village head Vijay Namdev guided the delegation through the PM Shri Mohiddinpur School, highlighting initiatives like Nipun Bharat Mission, Aadharshila program, Anganwadi centers, and AI-enabled smart classrooms. He emphasized how these facilities are bridging the digital divide and transforming rural education.

The group also visited the village's waste collection and management center, where electricity is being generated from solid waste. This innovation has made Mohiddinpur energy self-reliant while generating employment for dozens of villagers, particularly women.

At the Panchayat Bhawan, the delegation interacted with women from self-help groups producing household goods under the 'Karmani' brand—brooms, pickles, vinegar, slippers, and spices—successfully marketed locally. The initiative was praised as a powerful step toward women’s self-reliance.

Community Health Officer Dr. Neerja Chaudhary highlighted that over 50 patients receive free diagnosis and medicines daily under the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre (Aarogya Mandir), significantly enhancing rural health awareness.

The visit concluded with warm interactions between the delegation and local dignitaries including Dilawar, Vinay Sangwan, Mahipal Sangwan, Kiran Pal Singh, and Jaiveer Singh.
