MIET hosts workshop on Global Drug Development and Pharmacovigilance

Meerut: The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and the Department of Biotechnology of Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy, MIT, organized a one-day specialized workshop on “Understanding Global Drug Development and Pharmacovigilance” on August 25, 2025, at Audi 3, MIET campus.

The inaugural session began with the felicitation of chief guest Dr. Prateek Sharma, Head Academia, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), New Delhi, by MIET Vice Chairman Puneet Agarwal. The programme was attended by Director (Placement) Akansha Agarwal, Campus Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dean Academics Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Principal Pharmacy MIET Dr. Vipin Kumar Garg, Principal Pharmacy MIT Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma, Professor Dr. Alok Sharma and Garima Agarwal.

Eminent international speakers included Gurpreet Singh, Vice President, IQVIA (UK); Dr. Shipra Sehgal, Pharmacovigilance Consultant, Clinexel (UK); Punam Kumari, Pharmacovigilance Consultant, Clinexel (UK); and Dr. Tarunjot Singh, Director, Syneos Health (UK).

The technical sessions featured insightful talks on emerging trends in global drug development, the evolution of pharmacovigilance, risk management practices, signal detection, and the growing role of technology in pharmacovigilance. Speakers also highlighted diverse career opportunities in the sector.

The event concluded with the presentation of mementos to the dignitaries, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Alok Sharma. Participants shared positive feedback, calling the workshop an enriching academic experience that provided practical insights into drug safety and global regulatory practices.
