Meerut: To mark National Youth Day on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT) organised a ‘Run for Peace’ programme in Shamli. The event was held in collaboration with Saraswati Balika Vidya Mandir Inter School, The Gold Public School, Shamli, and Government Girls Inter College, Baghpat, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 300 students.
The initiative aimed to promote the values of peace, harmony, discipline and social responsibility among the youth. Through the symbolic run, students conveyed a strong message of unity and brotherhood, reflecting the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
The programme was organised under the guidance of College Director Dr KLA Khan, Principal Dr Himanshu Sharma and Dean Student Welfare Dr Sanjay Mathur. In their addresses, they described Swami Vivekananda as a great source of inspiration for the youth, emphasising his belief that an empowered and enlightened young generation plays a decisive role in shaping the nation’s future.
The successful execution of the event was supported by the dedicated efforts of Shikha Chauhan, Dr Sapna Deshwal, Pravesh Chaudhary, Deepak and Parul Sharma, whose coordination ensured smooth conduct of the programme.
A spirit of enthusiasm and collective purpose was evident throughout the event. Participants pledged to uphold the ideals of peace, unity and humanity, and to follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda in their personal and social lives.
