The three-day 29th Student Management Games (SMG), organised under the aegis of the All India Management Association (AIMA), commenced on Thursday at MIET Business School, Meerut, with an enthusiastic inaugural ceremony.
The event was formally inaugurated by Dr S.K.S. Yadav, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, Meerut College, along with Dr Sanjay Singh, Campus Director, MIET; Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Dean Academics, MIET; and Dr Madhu Bala Sharma, Head of the MBA Department, MIET.
Students from several reputed institutions, including IMS Ghaziabad, Manav Rachna University, DDUMC, IIMT, Shobhit University, MIET, MIT, Vinayak College, MIET Business School and CAESH, are participating in the competition. Around 150 students forming 40 teams are taking part in the three-day event, which aims to promote experiential learning, strategic thinking and healthy competition among future managers.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised the growing importance of simulation-based learning, leadership development and ethical decision-making in contemporary management education, stating that such platforms help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world business challenges.
A key highlight of the opening day was an expert workshop conducted by Pradeep Kumar from AIMA, who introduced participants to the ‘Chanakya Business Simulation’. He explained how strategic decisions taken by teams impact organisational performance in real-time business scenarios.
The event is being conducted under the guidance of faculty coordinators Dr Priyanka Dalmia, Dr Vaishali Goel, Sakshi Gupta, Vishwash Gautam and Rajneesh Kumar, with support from student coordinators. The competition will continue with multiple rounds and learning sessions until February 8.
The Student Management Games, AIMA’s flagship initiative, promotes the philosophy of ‘Learning by Doing’, enabling students to manage simulated organisations, analyse dynamic market conditions and develop industry-ready managerial competencies.
