MIET Group signs MoU with Tribal Agricultural Development Organisation

 

New Delhi: In a significant step towards strengthening collaboration in education, research and tribal development, the Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT) and Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET) Group of Institutions, Meerut, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tapashil Jati Adivasi Praktan Sainik Krishi Vikas Shilpa Kendra (TJAPS KBSK), Hooghly, West Bengal. The organisation is recognised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.

The MoU was formally signed by Puneet Agrawal, Vice Chairman, MIET Group of Institutions, and Saumen Kole, Secretary, TJAPS KBSK, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions. The collaboration aims to promote academic cooperation, research and innovation, skill development, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, and holistic development of rural and tribal communities.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr) Sunil Kumar Mishra, Group Dean (Research & Development), MIET Group, said the partnership would serve as a vital bridge between academic institutions and grassroots organisations. He stated that under the MoU, joint initiatives would be undertaken in agricultural and allied sector research, training programmes, workshops, seminars, and knowledge exchange. Students will also benefit through internships, field exposure, and hands-on learning opportunities.

The event was attended by Punit Agrawal, Vice Chairman, MIET Group; Prof. (Dr) Sunil Kumar Mishra; Sushil Kumar Sharma; Dr Himanshu Sharma, Principal, Meerut Institute of Technology; and Tanushree Jain, among others.

Representing TJAPS KBSK were Dr Narendra Kumar, Vice President; Mr Mridul Tarafdar, Member, National Advisory Committee and Project Director; Pawan Kumar Jha, Chief Finance Officer; and Jitendra Kumar, Head – Administration and Operations, along with other officials. They expressed confidence that the MoU would create new opportunities in education, training and employment across rural and tribal regions.

As part of the agreement, both institutions will jointly work on research and innovation in agriculture and allied sectors, capacity-building and skill development programmes, training workshops, student internships, and initiatives focused on the empowerment of tribal and marginalised communities. The MoU is being viewed as a key step towards fostering inclusive and sustainable development through academic–community collaboration.
