New Delhi: The Russian Cultural Centre (Russian House), New Delhi, hosted the Day of Science, Technology and Innovation, bringing together academia and international stakeholders to promote technological collaboration between India and Russia. Students from Inderprastha Engineering College (IPEC), Ghaziabad actively participated in the event.
Welcoming the students, Ms Elena Barman, Chairperson, Indian Russian Compatriots Society, said that the present era is defined by technological collaboration. She lauded Inderprastha Engineering College for its commendable contributions to scientific innovation, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Emphasising the scope of bilateral cooperation, she noted that India and Russia can work together extensively in AI, which would be mutually beneficial for both nations.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Vibhuti Shankar, Vice President – International Relations, Inderprastha Engineering College, stated that following the visit of H.E. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, to India, several Russian universities have entered into collaborations with the institution. He added that significant academic and research initiatives would be undertaken in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Mechatronics, and Cyber Security.
A special lecture on Artificial Intelligence was delivered by Prof Kumud Kundu, Head of the Department, CSE–AIML, Inderprastha Engineering College. She highlighted that conversational AI is poised to lead the domain in the coming years. She also discussed how human-centric, sustainable, intelligent and secure systems are transforming sectors such as healthcare, agriculture and education. Prof Kundu expressed concern over the need for appropriate regulatory frameworks to ensure the responsible use of agentic AI applications.
On the occasion, students of Inderprastha Engineering College showcased innovative AI-based prototypes across multiple domains. Projects such as Breath Shield AI, Virtual Eye, Solar Panel AI and Neuro Retina received strong appreciation from the Russian audience.
Concluding the event, Mr Puneet Agarwal, Vice Chairman, Inderprastha Engineering College, extended best wishes to both countries and said that the institution would play a pivotal role in strengthening soft diplomacy between India and Russia. He further announced that the Software Development Cell of the college would soon forge strategic alliances with leading Russian cyber security firms.
