Meerut: Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized a high-level technical session in collaboration with Russia’s prestigious Astrakhan State University, marking a significant step toward strengthening international academic partnerships.
The session witnessed the presence of a distinguished Russian delegation, reinforcing the growing global engagement of the institution. The program commenced with a welcome address by Vibhuti Shankar, Vice President, International Relations. Campus Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh formally felicitated the guests in traditional Indian style with shawls, mementoes, and floral greetings.
The visiting delegation included Rector Dr. Igor Alekseev, Head of the Law Department Dr. Kristina Grigorova, Vice Rector Dr. Ekaterina Pakhomova, Head of International Affairs Pavlova Gulnara Shamilevna, and translator Marshal’kin Dmitry Olegovich.
During the technical session, detailed discussions were held on emerging opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. The Russian experts highlighted Russia’s strong position in drug manufacturing and research and development of new medicines at the global level. They emphasized the vast potential for legal and institutional collaboration between Indian and Russian pharmaceutical companies, which could significantly enhance global healthcare systems.
The session also focused on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, outlining key areas such as student and faculty exchange, technology transfer, academic collaboration, joint seminars, and international conferences.
The delegates noted the strengthening ties between India and Russia in recent years and expressed confidence that such academic collaborations would not only deepen bilateral relations but also open new global avenues in education and research.
Chairman Vishnu Sharan, Vice Chairmen Puneet Agarwal and Gaurav Agarwal, Dean Academics Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Dr. Honey Tomar, along with faculty members and students, were present on the occasion.
