Blood Donation is the Greatest Gift of Life: Massive Response at Venkateshwara’s Red Cross Day Camp

Meerut: Shri Venkateshwara University, in association with VIMS Multispeciality Hospital and VGI Meerut, organised a voluntary blood donation camp and awareness drive on the occasion of World Red Cross Day at its campus on the National Highway Bypass.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, staff and voluntary donors, who came forward to donate blood and spread awareness about the importance of saving lives through blood donation. Participants also carried placards across the campus encouraging people to donate blood and support patients in need.

The programme was inaugurated by Sudhir Giri, founder chairman of the Venkateshwara Group, along with pro-chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, dean medical Dr. Prabhu M.H., medical superintendent Dr. Shishir Patil, pathology head Dr. Garima Bhatnagar, Dr. Amit Jain and blood bank in-charge Dr. Naushad through ribbon-cutting and lamp lighting ceremonies.

The blood donation drive began with contributions from Yogendra Singh, personal security officer to the pro-chancellor, along with staff members from the vice-chancellor’s office. Students and faculty members from nursing, pharmacy, agriculture and management departments later joined the initiative in large numbers.

Addressing the gathering, Sudhir Giri said that while Indian culture considers donations such as food, cows and marriage support as noble acts, blood donation is the “greatest donation” because it gives a new life to someone in need. He urged young people to donate blood regularly and motivate others to participate in such humanitarian initiatives.

Dr. Rajeev Tyagi called upon medical students to actively spread awareness about blood donation across urban and rural communities.

The event was attended by Dr. Abhay Bhatnagar, Dr. Ikram Elahi, Dr. Arun Goswami, S.S. Baghel, Shailendra Rawat, Preetpal, Dr. Pankaj Singh and media coordinator Vishwas Rana, among others.
