The conference, organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, centred on the theme “Recent Advances in Futuristic Materials”, bringing together researchers, scientists and academicians from India and abroad to discuss cutting-edge developments in material science and defence technology.
The inaugural session was attended by chief guest Dr. Vimal Kumar Varun along with Sumesh Dixit, Dr. Richa Chaudhary, Prof. R.K. Dwivedi, campus director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh and conference convenor Dr. Vipin Kumar Sharma, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Varun stressed the growing need for advanced and lightweight materials to strengthen India’s defence capabilities. He highlighted the importance of research in nanomaterials, piezoelectric materials, high-precision alloys and carbon fibre reinforced materials, which can enhance the performance and safety of defence equipment used by the Army, Air Force and Navy in challenging battlefield conditions.
Conference convenor Dr. Vipin Sharma informed that a total of 307 research papers were received for the conference, out of which 183 papers were presented and discussed on the opening day. Researchers from the fields of defence, engineering and technology showcased their work during the technical sessions.
The conference also witnessed international participation, with research papers submitted from countries including the USA, Oman, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, South Africa, Morocco and Turkey.
Experts at the conference discussed futuristic technologies, advanced material research and industrial innovations aimed at addressing real-world challenges. The organisers said the event was intended to expose students and research scholars to the latest scientific developments and encourage innovation-driven research.
During the programme, the conference proceedings booklet was also released. Technical lectures on the first day were delivered by Prof. O.P. Thakur (DRDO scientist), Prof. R.K. Dwivedi, Prof. Saket Asthana from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Singh from Indian Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University and Prof. Dinesh Agrawal from Pennsylvania State University, USA.
