International Literacy Day: Venkateshwara University Launches ‘Literacy Awareness Fortnight-2025’ with Focus on Digital Education

Meerut: On the occasion of International Literacy Day, Venkateshwara University/Institute organized a seminar on “The Importance of Digital Education in Enhancing Literacy” along with the grand inauguration of “Literacy Awareness Fortnight-2025.”

The event began with the flag-off of a literacy awareness rally, where a 150-member student delegation, guided by 15 faculty members, was sent off to various districts including Meerut and Moradabad. These students will conduct street plays, poster-making competitions, and awareness seminars across more than 150 educational and social institutions, anganwadi centers, and community health centers in Western Uttar Pradesh to highlight the importance of literacy.

Addressing the gathering, Founder Chairman Sudhir Giri emphasized that education is the true strength of any nation. Citing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he said, “Education is like the milk of a lioness; whoever drinks it will roar.” He added that no nation with an educated and technologically empowered youth can be stopped from becoming developed.

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi said that India’s dream of becoming a developed nation by 2047 can only be fulfilled when education reaches the last person in society. He hailed the National Education Policy 2020 as historic, combining initiatives like Skill India, Digital India, and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to strengthen the nation’s educational ecosystem.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishnakant Dave highlighted that digital learning has accelerated literacy rates across the country and will play a vital role in shaping future education models.

The program was attended by Registrar Prof. Piyush Pandey, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. Manish Sharma, Dr. Jyoti Singh, Dr. Manjari Rana, Campus Director Dr. Pratap Singh, and Media In-charge Vishwas Rana, along with faculty and students.
